The team at LatentSpace recently published an insightful piece on the discipline of AI Engineering, and it resonated deeply with me. It helped consolidate my thoughts about the unique discipline that involves developing large language models to create valuable applications and experiences.
I have been wrestling with where to anchor this website and the concept of AI Engineering seems to be a perfect fit. When the inaugural image-generating models were launched, there was a brief period where the prompts were quaintly referred to as “spells”. This inspired the name of this blog, AI Spellbooks
As a die-hard fantasy enthusiast, the term “spells” immediately struck a chord with me, and I was eager to adopt and develop this concept. Upon purchasing the domain name and establishing the rudimentary site, I found myself in a quandary about how to carve out a niche in the fast-paced and expanding field of generative AI. Should it become a newsletter, summarizing the latest developments? This felt like entering an already saturated market. Should it transform into a repository of tools? My experience seemed inadequate for that undertaking.
However, as I spent my weeknights and weekends tinkering and experimenting, I gradually discovered my passion for using generative AI to create experiences that were previously inconceivable.
Hence, my vision for this blog is to serve as a platform for highlighting and chronicling my journey in becoming an AI Engineer. I will be sharing my learning experiences, as well as notable courses, articles, and resources related to AI Engineering. Furthermore, I plan to share prototypes, small applications, and interesting projects I am working on, with the intention of inspiring and learning alongside others.
